Composite Front Doors
Composite Front Doors Explained
A great feature of modern front doors are their ability to be both protective and beautiful - with composite front doors being the best example of this. These doors are doors that feature distinct, vibrant designs that are different from the traditional wood or PVC materials that may be used with other doors.
A composite front door will be equipped with many useful features that separate it from a regular front door. It will normally be supplied with a thick PVCu frame which makes use of steel reinforcements. A polyurethane foam centre will be found on the internal area of the front door; this will be injected in to create a thick insulating property for the door.
There are several benefits that come with composite front doors, including, but not limited to the superior level of durability not found in regular door materials. While the door can feature a wooden external effect, the composite material delivers a door that is superior in both terms of strength and lastability.
Also, this kind of door will have a better insulating material that is easier to handle than other items. It will not let in as much air as other types of doors. This can work especially well when there are double-glazed windows used in these doors.
Composite Front Door Styles
The styles that are normally associated with and implemented during the construction process of composite front doors are suitable for even those with pickier tastes that are harder to please. A wooden effect design will often be used on the outside of the door, but plain gloss finishes are also abundantly available. It all depends in whether or not you want to go with something traditional in appearance or something a little different to the norm.
The chief composite material used is a strong GRP, or Glass Reinforced Plastic, featuring a grained exterior that is used to create the wooden effect. This is stronger than traditional wood because it is not going to crack or warp, and neither will it will not dent easily. Furthermore, this type of material requires little annual maintenance as the weather can't penetrate through the protective surface unlike standard wooden doors which require frequent treatments to prevent weathering.
There are also many different visual styles that work with these doors. These include design features such as windows that can be inserted into the middle of a door, or a thick mail box that goes in the door's central area allowing an attractive metal to create a contrasting visual effect.
The range of colours that can be selected from is also impressive. Composite front doors can be made from strong, vibrant colours including red, green, blue in addition to the usual suspects white and black.
